Illustrated Fiction: Down Where It's Wetter (Amphitrite / Hera)
Amphitrite and Hera in love's embrace under the sea, created for me by Arja

As you may have noticed, this is a Mermay story that is published in late June. I have the Poseidon/Nerites story finished as well but I'm reluctant about posting it out of chronological order because the Aphrodite/Nerites story is not.
Do any of you have a preference?

If it is any consolation, both stories will be fairly long, much longer than the 1000-1500 words I usually aim for 🙂

The next story to be published is Athena's and Nike's asexual romance for Pride Month. For now, enjoy Hera being comforted by her sister-in-law Amphitrite:

Down Where it's Wetter

"How nice of you to pay us a visit under the sea, Queen of the Heavens. Welcome to these watery halls."

Amphitrite wore her most splendid silks with pearls and roses in her hair. She wanted to look her best when she got to host Hera. Shimmering gem stones brought out the blue of her eyes and the coral of her lips. Hera had spent a part of her youth with Okeanos and Tethys, so she had chosen garments suited for an underwater palace whose colours were complimented by the blue of the sea and that clung to her form in all the right ways.

"The reason for my visit is not a happy one, dear sister-in-law," Hera said bluntly.

"Does Zeus give you grief, love?"

Amphitrite enwrapped the queen in her arms.

"Always." Hera returned the embrace. "He went off to earth again, thinking I do not notice."

"Our husbands are equally foolish," Amphitrite said, "But you know, I don't mind so much. Poseidon made some handsome demigods, let me tell you. Theseus was a real beauty when he was young."

Hera gave her friend a sour look.

"Is that supposed to cheer me up? How is it a consolation that his sons with other goddesses are all exceedingly handsome? Even that mortal bastard he fathered on the Theban princess turned out prettier than many girls."

"Because..." Amphitrite smirked. "He practically presents them to you on a silver platter. He brings them all to Olympos, does he not?"

"Not all of them. But it's bad enough that I have to look upon his infidelities in every council meeting."

"I don't think you understand, my queen. If he is so eager to father sons on other goddesses, why don't you take them to bed?"

Hera looked so offended that Amphitrite wondered if she had been too forward.

"Sleep with them? Never! Those little boys are beneath me, Amphitrite!"

"They are usually beneath me too. Unless, of course, I make them take me from behind." Amphitrite used Hera's shocked pause to press a kiss on her lips. "The times when it was just me and him and Nerites* are long gone. I'd prefer it if he just took a new eromenos** but he wants to chase mortal women? Fine. I'll enjoy the fruits of his labour."

"Hah! Zeus has Ganymedes and still he feels the need to bed nymphs and mortal hussies! And it's not like we never lie with each other either! I just don't know what to do, Amphitrite. Why am I not enough? I take care of myself, I put on jewellery and perfume, I enjoy his love-making and still he sneaks away to seduce mortal women."

The Queen of the Ocean kissed her distraught friend and rocked her gently in her arms.

"You know how gods are, Hera. They see a new toy and they want to play with it, just because it's new. Maybe try to feel more relaxed about that? I know Zeus likes to stray but he always comes back to you, doesn't he?"

"He keeps changing his lovers and ruins our marriage bed! He defiles his embrace with mortal women. How can I feel relaxed about that?"

"I could help you relax."

"Are you-"

"Offering? Yes."

"That's not what I-"

Hera was as beautiful as she was intimidating in her wrath but Amphitrite had successfully taken the wind out of her rage. Amphitrite could see why Zeus returned to her every time, no matter how many beds he invaded. There was lightning flashing in her eyes and storm clouds brewing about her head like an ominous veil. This goddess was never shy to speak her mind and as much as it might vex Zeus, Amphitrite was certain that he respected and admired his wife more than any of his love affairs. But he deserved a little comeback for making her friend so upset.

"Do you want to keep raging or do you want to give your husband a taste of his own medicine?"

"I told you: I'm not interested in adultery." Hera said coldy.

"I'm not talking of adultery." Amphitrite smoothed her dress. "I'm suggesting you lie back and enjoy the water."

A sudden current pressed Hera down onto the cushioned daybed they had been meaning to recline on. Amphitrite glided on top of her, her splendid silks waving about her in this wet element that was her home. She pressed her lips on the other woman's, tasting the salt of the ocean and the powerful tang of Hera's divinity. The queen startled briefly, then she wrapped her arms around Amphitrite, pressing their wet bodies together. She loosened the hair net of pearls the Queen of the Seas was wearing but Amphitrite did not dare remove the regal insignia of mighty Hera. Instead, she gave her friend a winning smile. When she was young, she and her sisters used to go to the places where water came gushing from rivers and fountains to find pleasure in the bubbling stream against their womanhoods. Now a grown goddess she controlled all water in her ocean. Poseidon rarely made use of his power for sex, and if he did he used it to impress a mortal maiden rather than to pleasure her. Amphitrite felt it was a huge waste of potential. She lifted the magnificent silky peplos*** her friend was wearing.

"There is pleasure," she said, "without adultery."

She remained in Hera's embrace while her hand hovered over the queen's lap, sending small currents of water over the mound that promised heavenly delights. Amphitrite would not touch her. Not directly. She watched her friend's teats stiffen through the soaked silk, sending little eddies to form around them to heighten the sensation of pleasure. Hera's breasts were gorgeous, even through the dress. Amphitrite wanted to get lost in that cleavage, fill her palms with those soft, plump bosoms and feel the hardened peaks against her fingertips. But she focused on the task at hand. Wet, flowing water caressed erect teats better than any tongue. Hera nested her head in the crook of her arm and Amphitrite gave her another sweet kiss, nothing that could be called unchaste, while her hand sent whirling water down the queen's amazing body. Bubbles tickled both of them all over and the wetness of the ocean mingled with the wetness between their thighs.

"Amphitrite, you..." Hera moaned.

"Are you enjoying your relaxing bath, my queen?"

"I... hn... yes." She closed her eyes and Amphitrite gently bit her lower lip, commanding the waves to send small jets to the divine cunt that had opened like a clamshell. The fabric of their peplos dresses billowed in the agitated water, revealing flushed, bare skin. Amphitrite hovered her hand over the sweetness of Hera's womanhood, water flooding the open wings and emerging pearl. She looked at her friend's face while they kissed, her head tilted back, gently biting at her lip. Currents swirled around Hera's clitoris, making the beautiful goddess cry out in pleasure and writhe in her arms like a fish caught in a net. Without the touch of neither god nor goddess, Queen Hera climaxed, screaming her pleasure to the waves. Amphitrite smiled, softening the intensity of her caress to allow for another orgasm. And another. The sea goddess teased and caressed that beautiful cunt until Hera asked her to stop.

"Look at me," she muttered, "I'm a mess!"

Her crown had become slightly lopsided, her carefully braided hair undone.

"I've been looking at you the whole time," Amphitrite said with pleasure. "But let us retire. I shall love to redo your hair. Or redo you. Whichever you prefer."
